Crude death rate - number of persons for each 1000 persons in a population who die within a given region (such as a county or state) for a given time period (usually 1 year). Crude death rates are not adjusted for age of the population. Thus populations with large numbers of elderly persons will have higher crude death rates than those with younger populations.
